His Excellency Lt. Gen. (R.T.D.) Louis M. Fisher
Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana to Zimbabwe with concurrent accreditation to Malawi
Ambassador Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Louis M. Fisher served with distinction in the army for a period of 29 years, exiting the service at the Rank of Commander of the Botswana Defence Force, a position he held from 1998 to 2006 prior to joining the academia.
Ambassador Fisher commands extensive leadership experience at strategic level, acquired through service in the domestic and international arena. Ambassador Fisher was a team leader at AU/EU Assessment Study Team from 2010 to 2012.
He has also represented the country regionally and globally and made invaluable contributions on topical issues when attending the following significant meetings; Consultative Meeting with the Organ TROIKA Members in Gaborone in 2016 and peace mission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2016. He served as a senior lecturer at the University of Botswana and Wits University in South Africa as well as became the visiting lecturer at the Universities of Namibia and Malawi. From March 2009 to June 2010, Ambassador Fisher served as Interim Director at the Security Institute for Governance and Leadership in Africa (SIGLA@ Stellenbosch) at Stellenbosch University.
In April 2013, he was appointed Resident Ambassador in the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation until June 2013 when he took up his posting as High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana to the Republic of Nigeria. He was also accredited on a non-resident basis to the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS) region and had presented credentials in Ghana, Togo and Cameroon.
High Commissioner Fisher was in the process of presenting credentials in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Mali and Senegal at the time of his appointment as the Ambassador of the Republic of Botswana to the Republic of Zimbabwe in December 2016.
On the 01st January 2017, Ambassador Fisher took up his latest posting as Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe, resident in Harare. Ambassador Fisher is a Member of the Conservation International.
